“connect & inspire”

W Project

A series of projects including, events, print and film from March 2011 till March 2016
self initiated by Teo Connor & Loren Sana Viel Platt to mark the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s day.

Uninspired by mainstream representations of women we decided to share our experience of our creative peers working around us in East London and beyond with a series of projects that initiated dialogue and created a supportive and uplifting community. The overwhelming response to our debut exhibition “Blessed are the Art Makers” meant we continued to bring people together till March 2016. Recognising and celebrating a diverse range of women working across the creative industries;

promoting empowering role models, and providing a platform to connect and inspire.

W Symposium

We created the symposium format as an opportunity to bring our community together break bread and initiate progressive and supportive dialogue. A space to share honest and inspiring journeys including obstacles faced and overcome. The connections made organically blossomed into friendships, collaborations and further projects.

We always strived to curate with diversity in mind, including intergenerational conversations to share knowledge in both directions, with the aim to empower, connect and inspire all of our guests.

After our initial independent series we were invited to curate Symposiums, for Tate, Soho House, Nike 1948 and Protein Studios. All with the same spirit and intention.

W Workshops

Each event series included an outreach programme of creative workshops introducing inspiring role models and their creative practice to young people from our community, providing an opportunity for the artists to learn and engage with local future talent as well as opening up dialogue for young minds to engage with local artists and their work while demystifying specific areas of the creative industries.
